THIS WEEK WE HAVE: Monday - library 12:45 Tuesday - library 12:45, and music 1:35 Wednesday - gym 1:00, music 3:05 Thursday - gym 9:40 Friday - art 10:05, computer 2:40 Please remember to send gym shoes if needed on your child's gym class day! Please send shoes for your child to wear in the classroom. Children must take off their boots and wear shoes in our classroom. The carpet gets wet from wet boots and then students sit in the wet which is very uncomfortable. Your child can bring a snack to eat in the mornings during our snack break. Kindergarteners get pretty hungry in the middle of the morning! Brain friendly snacks are cheese/crackers, fruit, granola and fruit drinks. Please do not send candy or pop. THANK YOU !! | We are learning and growing! We are almost to the end of the first semester already and we have learned so much. We have practiced the alphabet letter names and sounds. We have been working on blending the sounds together to make words too! We are now reading books as a class and individually. Our writing is developing too. We are working on remembering to put a finger space between words and sounding out words to write what we want to say. Of course, we are improving in drawing details into pictures that go with our writing. Whew, our brains are so full!
We have been busy learning math skills. We have been counting alot by 1's, 5's and 10's to get to 100. We have learned to tell which number is greater or smaller than another number. We have used our calendar to help us with math skills. We count the days forwards and backwards. We count how many days until the end of the month and have fun keeping track of how many days until Valentine's Day. We have worked on counting sets (groups) of objects and then telling which set is greater or smaller. We have practiced working with different shapes too. Homework books and practice sheets are sent home on Mondays and Tuesdays. The A-Z Books can be kept at home so your child can practice reading every day at home. The practice sheets need to come back to school on Fridays. I hope you have been enjoying helping your child practice their reading. They are so excited and proud! Please help them understand the directions to the practice sheets, but let them work the best they can. It is alright if everything is not correct. Check out the Home Learning Ideas page for some helpful hints to help your child review at home! |
